It can be hard to keep up when you’re in graduate school! My studies have unsurfaced intriguing information, and I am glad to imbue the new knowledge into this update. This post is mostly about the transition of Jupiter into Leo and Mars into Scorpio. It is my belief that this indicates a fortifying, encouraging pattern in the romantic and creative aspects of our lifestyle; places that may have suffered due to steeper focuses on family/home, introspection, personal healing, and purification of our body, particularly of the liver & emotional wounds we harbor. Jupiter in Cancer has asked us to reflect, and Jupiter in Leo now asks us to radiate.
The Sun, Moon, & Jupiter in the Lion’s Court; Saturn in Scorpio
As this new moon in Leo encroaches, many of us could now experience the unfolding of a real love story, as planetary patterns encourage an intensification of romance & unadulterated emotional expression. Imminently/presently, through Saturn’s sojourn in Scorpio, there are various tests of commitment, tests of our emotions which validate (or invalidate) our personal notions of love, our perceptions and prejudices. What can we know about love without suffering its absence? When you say you love someone, do you mean their body or their mind? Or do you truly love their soul? How deep does that love go, and to what ends will you suffer so you may maintain and nurture it? These are questions to be explored and potentially answered soon, or to be developed within the next year or so. Your love might face distance, an unnatural sundering, or a relocation/career shift, so to bring you ‘closer’—ironic, no? This is the paradoxical conflict that Jupiter and Saturn often bring: strength, but always with a gamble, or challenge through fear.
Take Your Throne—Sun in Leo, Jupiter in Leo, Mars in Scorpio
Love and attraction extend far beyond the restraints of our corporeal existence, and many will now be reunifying with a soul they’ve met before—perhaps many times. This could be a moment where many are becoming enthralled with their potential king or queen, a destined lover. Trust your intuition about the person you’ve chosen or feel attracted to right now, because a dense irrationality is shrouding mechanisms which toil for a greater, long-term purpose. Jupiter is well received by the Leo constellation, but it is a planet with a strong influence—”celestial clout,” if you will—and he is well endowed with power, very rich & exuberant, much like the Sun. Optimistic, positive augmentations of confidence are noted. Overconfidence can cause trouble. A deluded self-righteousness could impede all progress. Beware becoming to dictatorial, or over possessive in your romantic relationships.
Identities and egos become more sensitive during this time, especially as the weather continues to heat up with the Sun transiting Leo. Jupiter and the Sun in Leo indicate an emboldening of the spirit and of courage. There are significant signs that many persons could be experiencing a shift in personality due to a true love, a true marriage of emotion with sexuality, thanks to the influences of the planets right now. If you’ve been hesitating to call someone, if you’ve felt a little timid, that caution could fall away without warning! This could be problematic if you’re verbose or have no filter—the influence could make you so in love with your own vision of love, so optimistic about how others see you, that you could blunder, but only if you are thoughtless. It is my belief that this planetary placement is actually quite auspicious and will lead to good developments in romance, or creative expression. Even social gain or popularity is potential because of the charisma it sparks.
Mars in Scorpio and Sun/Moon/Jupiter indicate at the very least fantasies concerning a very physical, lustful and unrelenting union with a partner, as Leo needs to exercise passion, pleasure. Both Leo and Scorpio are “fixed” signs. These signs tend to possess and exalt the loved one. The libido could overload the mind without proper outlet (it is important to exercise if celibacy is practiced.) For artists and mystics, it could be a volatile time, because this radical energy makes you want to explode with vision or inspiration. The time is becoming ripe for some real masterpieces.
This is a yearly time where you near a prime version of your ‘solar self,’ the part of you that aspires to be seen and to receive adoration for your abilities. It is such a distinct revolution in self perception that it will magnetize the right people and push away the wrong ones. This will bubble up from a simple acceptance of your dharma, of operating naturally and in accordance with what makes you happy. This is a time for the spirit to be emboldened and unshackled, to rise high & illumine as the Sun does. Thankfully both Venus and Mercury will remain in Cancer for the early parts, and much of the ‘fire’ will be counterbalanced with internal reflection to counteract the fiery, extrovert basis of Jupiter/Sun in Leo.
Anatomy and this transit
Jupiter is recognized as the liver organ. Regenerative, large, the reservoir of our blood-soul (the Hun). It is where our Anger resides, and the maintains flow of our qi. The Sun, as I’ve traditionally learned, is often anatomically related to the heart; yet, in TCM, the heart belongs to Mars. While talking to a professor about this, he insinuated the the Sun composes the backside or “most Yang”side of the body. This is principally related to what we call the Du or Governing channel in TCM. This channel runs straight up the spine, and has a lot to do with our nervous system and rational mental faculties. The most basic illustration of its relevance here is the fact we stand up and engage this channel principally during the daytime. Posture or pathology relating to the spine/Du Channel can infer a lot about the confidence & radiance of a person. The spine maintains our physical mobility or mental flexibility.
Jupiter could bring strength or encourage regeneration and power here, especially while augmented by the Sun’s transit through Leo. It could also lead to more drinking, an abuse of the liver through alcohol, rich/spicy food, drugs. Liver fire (inflammatory toxins in liver) could thoroughly increase, leading to much mania or anger. Some humans could become so overwhelmed they become incensed by rage.
Springtime in Scorpio’s Forest
The principles within the relationships we inhabit, or aspire to inhabit will begin to conform to those newer qualities gained from rough experiences, from disappointment in past relationships and from the work you’ve put into yourself since such downfalls took place. Think of it like this: enamored by beauty, you walk into a thriving garden bare fisted and leave with bloody palms after a hard days work. Next time you walk into the garden you’ve got gloves and gardening tools. Annoyances cultivate us into more astute persons so that we can attract, maintain and RESPECT the people we love. Through pain we are cultivated. Through pain we learn to receive and manage our own image, and this fortifies our empathy & pragmatism.
Indeed, the upcoming transits are going to be remedial, and counteractive to some of the lessons inspired by Saturn in Scorpio, which lingers there until the end of the year. Saturn always calls us to caution through some means, whether psychic intuition, or point-blank consequences for our actions. It is the restrictor, the heavy anchor that can ensure us strength during a storm, that draws our attention toward education of a subject, or the fears which carry us to the abyss when we are depressed. Saturn here can frustrate sexuality, digestion, grounding and creative expression. Usually the mistakes made or experienced here lead us to greater evolutions toward ‘maturity,’ especially since Saturn also is often regarded as a conduit or reservoir for our Karma. Its placement can infer the fields of experience in which we may experience a greater challenge or quest, whether as individuals, generational populations or as an entire species.
Mars has been rolling through Libra for the past few months, drawing attention directly to the region of our romantic paradigm that beckons us toward real commitment, real comprehension of the other person and beautification for the greater good. It is the countersign to Aries, and indicates some friction with how we present or approach others. Sometimes we need to stop and realize we are not doing things as gracefully as imagined, or maybe that our priorities have been misaligned. As I mentioned in my previous post, this transit can inspire new one on one relationships that refine the expression or interests of the native through frustrations. It has been an ideal time to investigate and balance the more basic, brute desires that catalyze our interests in other people. The sexual intensity that can be stirred by Mars/Aries/Scorpio is given a moralistic platform by transiting through Libra—for this aspect gives unbridled desire a tangible, emotional structure that can be nourished by physical, sexual love. The opportunity to meet a good mate has been high, and that is why restraint has consistently been tested. A vulgar way of putting it is “it’s easy to fuck; it’s hard to love.” So maybe you’ve had some strange, diverse options put in front of you, and through contrast, you’ve begun to truly recognize what real, unadulterated attraction feels like. You know what you want and you’re ready to work for it.
